Sunset Crater severely burned

Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument has burned “in its entirety” in an out-of-control wildfire in northern Arizona, the National Park Service has confirmed.

Officials say all staff members were able to quickly evacuate, and they were able to grab culturally important items from the visitor center.

The visitor center remains unharmed currently, however, the fire is still burning.

The park is closed indefinitely and there is no word on when it may reopen.
